    Outreach

One good question to ask when you're looking for a church is about Outreach. What is the church doing to help the community? Do they support local, national, and/or global missions?
Here at Emporia First Baptist we do all of the above! We do both hands on outreach as well as contributing financial support to local missions. Our denomination supports a number a missionaries both abroad and nationally.
See the Links Section (at the bottom of this page) to our National Denomination for information.

A couple of our Favorite OUTREACH PROJECTS are mentioned below:

PRAYERS & SQUARES, THE PRAYER QUILT MINISTRY:

Prayer Quilts such as this one are given to individuals who are experiencing circumstances that require intense, fervent prayer. The quilts are made by volunteers with "Love, Hope, and Prayers." Quilts are dedicated to an individual, and they have many loose strings. As each set of strings are tied into a knot, a prayer is said for the individual who is to receive it.

"Biker Sunday"  is what we call our annual service to recognize members of the  Christian Motorcyclists Association.  CMA is a non-profit, interdenominational Christian organization, dedicated to reaching people for Christ on the highways.  This year that will happen on Sept. 12, 2010.  This is often a large event that takes place outside.  Click Here to get all the information!  It's really an event you don't want to miss!

       What To Expect
Our church service is fairly informal. You will see individuals in jeans or kahkis. During football season you should expect to see some Chiefs sweatshirts.
(It was nice to be able to wear the KC shirts with pride this past season!)
During the summer months some will be wearing shorts. Ties are pretty rare, And a coat and tie combo is often an indicator that we have a guest speaker!

You should expect that people will shake your hand and welcome you.

You should also expect to hear some really good music! We have an awesome band! (drums, acousitc and electic guitars, keyboards, trumpet, plus great vocals!) They honestly rock! We usually sing a couple of familiar hymns, and also a couple of modern praise songs. We call it a blended service.

On the first Sunday of the month we partake in Communion.
All believers are welcome to participate.
(see the "Basic Beliefs" section for more info)
